THE ROSARY

This is a way of praying given to us by St. Dominic. Our Lady appeared to him in a vision
and gave him this special prayer. Since then Our Lady has appeared in many places, such
 as Lourdes, Fatima and Medjugorje. She always has the rosary and wants us to use it too.

 It involves saying a number of prayers over and over. We keep count using beads. The
Rosary helps us to think about things that happened in the life of Jesus and His Mother
Mary. We think about these stories as we say the prayers.

 The Rosary starts with the crucifix. we hold it and make the sign of the cross. Sometimes
 you can use the first few beads and say the Apostles Creed followed by an Our Father,
 three Hail Mary's and a Glory Be.  

Usually we say the Rosary as follows:

The Rosary is split into Mysteries which are stories from the lives of Jesus and Mary. Each of the mysteries has five stories known as decades.

We start by thinking about the story of the decade and then using the beads to count we say an Our father, ten Hail Mary's and a Glory Be and the Fatima Prayer. We do this for each decade. When we finish the five decades of the Mystery we say the Hail Holy Queen
